Ik wilde al lang iets doen met grote wervelstormen. Ik kan er niet genoeg van krijgen als die op de TV zijn.
Ik herinner me dat de tekenaar de grap op bladzij 7 over het hoofd zag - waar Willie Wortel na het passeren ondersteboven aan de boom gebonden zit.
We lijden wat af...

I was dreaming of doing something with huge twisters. I can't get enough of watching them on TV.
The final artist did not get the joke on page 7, where Gyro finds himself tied upside down to the tree, after the passsing of the tornado.
I suffer a lot...

Gyro Gearloose, dentist

Ik heb al gezegd dat ik een zwak heb voor Midas en voor Mikmak, maar ik mag Willie niet vergeten. We zijn heel erg close op het gebied van de dringende noodzaak om altijd maar nieuwe ideeën te hebben. Dit verhaal is al oud, want Willie heeft nog een computer met floppy disc spleet.

I did mention my weakness for Zeke Wolf and Madam Mim, but I should not forget Gyro. We are very close as to the necessity of always having new ideas. This is an old story, where Gyro's computer still has a floppy disc slot.

Humormachine

Ik lees ze met veel plezier terug, niet in het minst omdat ik een wonderlijk werkend geheugen heb: direct na het schrijven van de Duck-scenario's verdwijnen ze vrijwel spoorloos uit mijn geheugen.
Om te beginnen een slapstick met hagelstenen.

I like rereading my own stories, not in the least because my memory functions in a bizarre way: immediately after finishing a story, it disappears from my head leaving hardly any traces.
This one is pure slapstick between Uncle Scrooge and Gyro, where Uncla Scrooge has to bring a cash payment to his garage, braving hailstones and Geo has his funny jokes day.
Uncle Scrooge can't appreciate his humor, and advises Gyro to invent a humormachine...

Willies humormachine is uiteraard mijn mooiste droom...
