The Beast That Came In From The Cold

Ik ben dol op dit verhaal. Ik haat kou en zoals Donald in dit verhaal klaagt, klaag ik de hele winter lang. (Gelukkig is de winter in Frankrijk wat korter.)

I love this story. I hate cold and Donald is griping throughout the story like I am griping all through winter. (Lucky for me in France winters are shorter.)

Locust Popcorn

Voor mijn biograaf: dit scenario schreef ik toen mijn tweede vrouw me verliet voor een ander. Het is heel erg "Donald tegen Guus" en Guus heeft niet eens zo heel veel geluk. Je vraagt je af waarom...
Ik schreef het als een 12 pagina verhaal, maar de redactie sneed het terug naar 11 en ze wilden ook een ander einde. Geen sprinkhanenpopcorn voor de lezertjes in die dagen.
(De insecteneetmode kwam pas veel  later.)

For my biographer: I wrote this story when my second wife left me for another. It is very "Donald against Gladstone" and Gladstone is only half lucky. One wonders why...
I wrote it as a 12 page story, but the editors cut it to 11 and they required another ending. No locust popcorn for the kids in those days.
(The insect eating rage came much later.)

Gag Categories

Twee korte gags voor uw amusement. De eerste heeft een standaard gag-constructie: er is een probleem en twee personen vinden er ieder een oplossing voor. Alleen versterken de oplossingen elkaar en zijn we nog veel verder van huis.
De tweede is in de "een ding lijkt op een ander" categorie.

Two short gags for your pleasure. The first has a standard gag-construction: there is a problem (Daisy' tee-shirts shrink) and two persons find a remedy for the problem. (Daisy buys her tee-shirts in bigger sizes, so they will shrink and fit, while Donald asks Gyro Gearloose for washing powder that will expand tee-shirts, so the shrunken ones will fit).
The two remedies go in the same direction and Daisy's tees are elephant-size.
The second one is in the "one thing resembles another" category. A spider's thread resembles a line on a hand.

Gobble, Gobble!

Deze is al 26 jaar oud dit jaar. Nog helemaal met de hand gedaan in het Computerloze Tijdperk.
De photocopieermachine heeft de schetsen aan de bovenkant net iets te laag afgesneden. Mijn verontschuldigingen.

This one is already 26 years old this year. It was done by hand in pre-computer days and the photocopy machine did cut my sketches at the top. I apologize.
The story is about Donald slaving at Uncle Scrooge's turkey farm, becoming disgusted with birds in general.
In town, Duckburg has its yearly "Be Nice To Birds Week" and Daisy is a member of the jury. Donald feels obliged to participate, but all his good plans go awry in a spectacular way and he is collecting plenty of penalty points from Daisy.
After a fight with Daisy (when she learns what an abominable day job Donald has) poor Donald is hit on the head and thinks he is a bird himself (well, of course he is, but he thinks he is a turkey). So he sets the turkeys from Scrooges farm free, to please Daisy and to help his fellow turkeys.
In the end, the turkeys have a less than uncertain future in town and Daisy gives penalty points to everybody, including herself.
